The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra will take a detour from Beethoven Friday night and attempt to rock Miller Auditorium with the music of Queen. The Orchestra will feature Canada-based musician’s Jeans ‘n Classics for a classic rock-meets-orchestra concert on Feb. 5.
Jeans ‘n Classics vocalist Michael Shotton will stop by for an interview on the Nonchalant Café Hour to discuss the intriguing fusion of one of rock music’s most famous bands with the environs of traditional orchestra. Adding to what is sure to be a fun show will be 140 voices from the high school choral departments of Kalamazoo Central, Mattawan and Vicksburg according to the Kalamazoo Gazette.
Also on the NCH we’ll chat with the Kalamazoo Curling Club’s Jason Hall (also host of WIDR World) who will discuss the new curling season here in Kalamazoo and the approaching 2010 USA Curling National Championships set for March 6–13 at Wings Stadium.
Also Tune in for our regular chat with KalamaBrew for all the latest on the Midwest craft beer scene and our weekly conversation with WIDR Music Director Jeremy Martin who brings in his top music picks of the week.
